These complementary blessings are practised in the Neanderthal Therme, in the natural park or in the immediate surroundings.

The untouched wellness of the Neanderthal Therme is modelled after the natural way of life of the Neanderthals.

Swimming pool in a rocky landscape
Whether swimming laps or drifting in warm water of up to 28 degrees beneath the glass roof, the feeling of pure lightness is a simple boon for body and spirit alike. These sensations can live on in the three circular relaxation pools embedded in the rocky landscape, offering water temperatures of approx. 35 degrees.
Saunas
The Finnish sauna
The classic Finnish sauna in the Neandertal Therme offers space to recline or take a seat on the various levels of the wooden benches. The large electric heater warms the wooden space to 95 and nearly 100°C. Temperatures are the hottest on the top level. The lower the bench, the lower the temperature. The heat keeps humidity levels low. The Finnish sauna is recommended for use by experienced sauna-goers. Suitable for a maximum of 10 people.
Soleum as a steam sauna
With maximum temperatures of 40 to 50°C, the steam sauna is a type of organic sauna. With a humidity level of nearly 100%, some find it less exerting and all the more agreeable to the skin and the respiratory tract. Particularly if the steam is enriched with salt (in the form of brine) at the push of a button. Users perch on massive stone blocks (monoliths) in this sauna modelled after a small Neanderthal rock grotto. Suitable for a maximum of 6 people.
Organic log-house sauna with herbs
Another small organic sauna, nestled in a log house, and features narrow windows for daylight. Its electric heater reaches maximum temperatures of up to 60°C, which are considered rather low. The heat can be augmented with a herbal elixir mist at the push of a button. A summer walk through a meadow of herbs comes quite close to the sense of well-being diffused in this gentle heat. Suitable for a maximum of 3 people.
Organic sauna in the Salina Vita log house
An organic sauna featuring lower temperatures greets connoisseurs in the front outdoor area of the Neanderthal Therme. The bright log house with its large glass window offers a pleasant, deep warmth from an infrared source that gently warms the body from within. Enriched with added oxygen and salt at the touch of a button, the sensation is one of a stroll at the seaside. A special treat for skin and airways Suitable for a maximum of 3 people.
Relaxation rooms with a view
The loungers on different levels and areas in the Neanderthal Therme are perfect spaces in which to relaxing, contemplate, read or daydream. Depending on the season and the weather, guests can also enjoy the outdoor grounds lying beneath a blanket or under a parasol; in summer, the space stretches right into the park area.
To keep visitors perfectly hydrated at all times, a self-service water dispenser is available free of charge at the information desk in front of the fitness studio. Times for towel changes are posted in the same spot. In the interest of the environment, you are kindly requested to make mindful and careful use of resources.
Water-pressure massage
This pressure-jet massage operates with the power of the pure element of water. Dressed in comfortable, lightweight clothing, visitors recline on a fabric pad atop a warm mat made of flexible, natural rubber. Twin nozzles located beneath direct a jet of water to the entire back of the body or to certain regions, as desired. The bright space offers a pleasant atmosphere that promotes the relaxation effect. The chip card is available at the reception desk and can be used without scheduling a prior appointment.

Enjoying the here and now
A rotation of offers for small groups are available almost daily – and up to twice daily on weekends. Mindfulness-promoting activities are on offer, including meditation, a fantasy journey, Qi Gong, yoga or – weather permitting – forest-bathing and foot sensations. Specific offers are announced one week in advance. Participation is included for those who book one of our package offers for overnight accommodations.
Yurashi therapy (gentle massage to release blockages due to stress) can be booked as a solo application in advance. Its lasting effects mean letting go and, dressed in light clothing, enjoying the therapist’s gentle, rocking and stretching moves.

Fitness studio
Those who wish to incorporate the wellness of gentle fitness are free to use the exercise machines at their own pace and individual level of intensity. The air-conditioned gym features 32 machines, along with weights and gymnastics mats. Rowing, slow walking and independent stretching offer alternatives to athletic strength and endurance training.
Swimming in the outdoor pool
Swimming a few laps under the sun in the outdoor pool is both refreshing and relaxing. This might be followed up by sunbathing on the pool island or on one of the chaises longues in this atrium area. Slightly adjusted to pleasant temperatures, it offers a versatile tool for relaxation between May and September – even as cold-water swimming in winter continues to gain in popularity.

Sustainability
The desired warmth and necessary hygiene in the Neandertal Therme are maintained with a steady eye to conserving energy and reducing environmental impacts.
A specially created carbon-sand filter system, together with a balancing of the lowest levels of water chlorination with sodium hyporchlorite solutions are just two examples of the routine checks performed by in-house and institutional experts. Organic cleaning agents are standard at Bio-Hotel Land Gut Höhne. We also enlist our guests’ assistance through a resource-saving approach to the conscious and gentle handling of lounge covers and towels. We thank you for joining us as we aim to constantly develop and improve our performance in this area as well.
The fitness studio is in the Neandertal Therme spa and is open from 6:30am to 10pm. Usage times depend on and are included in the rooms and package booked and so depend on the checked-in times for the room.
Über Anfragen von Tages-Gästen freuen wir uns ebenfalls. Grundsätzlich ist innerhalb der Woche zwischen Montag und Donnerstag auch ohne Hotel-Buchung eine Nutzung des Wellness-Bereichs möglich. Der Tagespreis von 45 Euro berechtigt zur Nutzung der vier Saunen, des Fitness-Studios, Pools, Ruhe-Bereichs. Wochenenden und Feiertage sind jedoch den Hotelgästen vorbehalten.
With its various themed areas, the Neandertal Therme spa is built on several levels. The various wellness areas can only be accessed via numerous stairs and steps. There is no barrier-free accessibility.
The wellness area is intended exclusively for those seeking peace and relaxation. We offer a so-called romp hour for children at a fixed hour in the morning and evening. During this time, children are permitted access if accompanied by their adult guardian. For legal reasons, the advice and instructions of the wellness employees must be followed without fail.
Only the four saunas and the showers are textile-free, meaning they can be used without clothing. For all other areas, such as swimming pools, relaxation and lounging areas, hydrojet massage bed, fitness studio and lounge areas, swimming clothing, sportswear, bathrobes or comfortable leisure clothing are recommended or generally specified depending on the appropriate type of use. If you have forgotten your swimwear, we offer a bathing suit, bikini or swimming trunk for hire. Swimwear can also be purchased at the Kaufladen mit Sinn in the foyer. Please feel free to speak to the staff at reception or in the wellness area if you need help.
